After Friday’s star performance by Wayne Rooney in the 4-0 win by England over Bulgaria Fabio Capello the team boss has said that he will be playing in the qualifying match for the Euro 2012 tournament against Switzerland on Tuesday.
After what can only be described as terrible performances in this summer’s World Cup matches and with the added problems of personal life troubles that have been revealed recently by the British media there was doubt as to whether Rooney would be selected to play on Tuesday however after his powerful performance against Bulgaria in which he played a pivotal role the decision was taken by the England boss to play him.
Capello said “I hope his performance will be the same as at Wembley” and went on to add “I spoke with him and he is happy to play”.
Speaking about the off-field problems of England football player’s that have recently occurred Capello suggested that the profile of modern-day footballers could make them the inevitable focus of intense media interest, with the English press being no worse than any other country.
